On October 12–16, Swecare hosted an official delegation of representatives from Ukraine’s Ministry of Health and the procurement agency Medical Procurement of Ukraine (MPU) in Stockholm and Uppsala. Integrum, a Swecare member, was one of the companies present.
The Ministry leads the state-funded pilot program for bone-anchored prostheses that the government decided on in September, with a first cohort of 25 patients planned as early as this year. The OPRA® Implant System has been used in more than 100 treatments in Ukraine since 2023, and the company has previously engaged with the Ministry of Health.
Integrum was represented by board members Kristofer Westergren and Henric Carlsson, together with Victoria Boiko, who has led the company’s business development in Ukraine since April. The relationship has been built over more than a year, and Integrum was also invited to the official dinner held in connection with the meeting.
Ukraine’s osseointegration pilot program is led by the Ministry of Health. As the introduction of osseointegration into Ukraine’s national healthcare program advances from pilot phase to routine care, responsibility will transfer to MPU, which administers the state’s centralized procurement of pharmaceuticals and medical technology. Integrum will continue to support the country’s development of advanced prosthetic care, including through training at the company’s Centers of Excellence in Kyiv and Cherkasy.
“We are very pleased to have taken part in the Ukrainian delegation’s visit to Sweden. We look forward to maintaining the dialogue with the Ministry of Health and MPU, and to continuing our collaboration with Swecare to strengthen healthcare in Ukraine. The meeting was a natural continuation of the discussions we have held in Ukraine over more than a year. Ultimately, this is about the patients in Ukraine, and we want to remain a long-term partner to Ukrainian healthcare,” says Kristofer Westergren, board member of Integrum.
